January 2011...

...since I stuck to P365 in 2010, I decided to do it again in 2011. Those pages are just so much fun to have, I couldn't imagine not having them for 2011.

However, I decided to do them a little differently this year, and not be obsessive about daily photos. If I didn't take a photo one day, it's ok. I just journal a little bit about that day instead. Since some days, I take a lot of photos while on others I might not take even one, so I decided on an option where I could sometimes include more than one photo from each day, as well as journal a little bit about world events of the month as well as our lives.

I am using Biograffiti's Project 365 2011 templates for the "photo-a-day" double layout for each month...And then I'm using Biograffiti's My Life & Story templates to include the remaining photos and the current affairs journaling for the month. Molly has an amazing variety within that template album, so I can include any number of double pages I choose to, depending on the number of photos that month. It gives me the option to include a page or two with photos from trips or special events. Anyways, here are my January pages...I totally love this - and I love including the full page photos :) I'm planning on having all of these pages printed in a book for us, and then I'll take a selection of the My Live & Story pages and print them in a yearly photobook for the grandparents.

I scrapped the January pages, using a kit by Taylormade Designs (collab with FeiFei's Stuff) and some elements from Weeds & Wildflowers.

New photos

My 2 newest 365 photos :)

April 9
They got 3 Easter eggs each and got to open 1 each on Easter Sunday - which they didn't finish off until Wednesday. For a sweet tooth like Matthildur, that's really something!!! My bet was that she would be done with hers before lunch on Sunday LOL
Friday, they got to open their second one - and this is when Lovisa is checking if Matthildur is doing it right :) So, they opened them up, smashed them to pieces on their plates, ate a little bit - and the eggs are still on the plates, sitting in the fridge, and noone wants to eat them!!! I'm so proud of them when they ask for an apple instead of chocolate :)

April 10
Lovisa after her bath yesterday. She is getting so big and does everything herself. I miss my little baby :) Isn't she just gorgeous?

The Glacier

Today's photo
Even though we've had good weather, it's been a bit overcast and we haven't seen much sun. Finally, this afternoon, the sun shone on bright blue skies - making our backyard glacier look especially good :) I took this photo from my balcony, without using any zoom. Admittedly, I cropped it a bit to take away a few houses and a bit of the sky.

Spring in the Air

I think spring is coming - at least we are having very spring like weather these past few days :)

March 9The girls were cuddled together in their room after dinner and then all of a sudden called us downstairs to play out a musical they had been rehearsing. Or so they said :) The musical consisted of the them singing the songs from the Sound of Music. It was fun and they love giving these performances, either singing for us or acting out a play :)

March 10
The weather was absolutely fantastic, and the light over the fjord was amazing - it was just clear and totally blue, so I had to get a photo :) It didn't hurt that there was a blue fishing boat laying nets right there.

More 365

I'm still doing it - and uploading all the photos to facebook - I'm just not good with the blog thing LOL

March 1
March 1, 2004 we got this beautiful little lady in our arms for the first time. She is now 7 since December and the light of our lives in every way :)

March 2Matthildur playing with her pirate accessories. I think her pirate costume is her favorite one ever :)

March 3
We got unexpected horrid weather this afternoon, with high winds and blowing snow. I so want it to feel like spring and this weather gets on my nerves. Big time!!

March 4
My husband injured his leg while playing soccer last Saturday. Now he's black and blue and yellow and pink and purple from his knee to his crotch!!

March 5
The girls love to help in the kitchen and while my husband and I made dinner, they made the salad :)

March 6
We had a southwesterly storm today, and when the wind blows from the southwest, the ocean is always wild around here. I took this photo in the afternoon, the ocean was much wilder in the morning, but then it was too windy and too cold for me to venture outside LOL

March 7
I cut the girls' bangs today, and while Lovisa acted silly when I tried to take her photo, Matthildur loved playing a model for me and put up her sweetest face :)

March 8Finally the weather let up and it actually felt like spring. Even though it's still coat and hat weather, we could still bring some toys out on the balcony and let the girls play there for awhile this afternoon. They've been waiting for it all winter LOL

And the monthly...

February on one layout...
And that's it for the month of February - let March begin :)

And the layouts

And here's the rest of my February weekly layouts :)

And now I'm almost done...

Rest of February

Now for the rest of my February photos...

February 24There was a concert at the Music school and both girls performed. Lovisa Lin is taking piano and singing lessons, so she sang a song and played two songs on the piano. Matthildur Inga had only had two piano lessons, but she had learned to play the "C" note - so that's what she did :) And she was VERY proud of herself!!! She did want to sing, though, just like her sister, and had prepared a song, so she was not too happy with not getting to perform it LOL

February 25
Winter's here! It's a bit late for my taste - we really should be seeing warmer temps, but this is Iceland so we know we can get any kind of weather all year round LOL

February 26Since the weather has been rather bad, cold, windy and snowy, the cat hasn't been able to go out as much as she's used to. So she's grumpy - just gives us the evil eye as if the weather is our fault :) I love that cat LOL

February 27 Matthildur Inga at the sports hall watching her dad play soccer. She didn't find it too exciting LOL

February 28
The weather has been great this weekend, so the girls have been outside playing in the snow a lot. It's been SO much fun - but they were so tired when they went to bed tonight :)

Egypt

Lovisa Lin is fascinated by Ancient Egypt. When I went to a book fair on Sunday, I bought her a book on the subject...
She spent the best part of the afternoon looking and reading and asking questions - she was so engrossed in the book that I hardly saw her face the whole time LOL

Week 7

Here are my completed layouts for week 7 :)

Weekend - and more

I've been having big problems with my internet connection at home, and it takes forever to update and upload to the blog. I'm sneaking this one in at work - so don't tell LOL

February 19Friday night is tv night so we make popcorn and get cozy in front of the tv. There are 2 comedy shows the girls get to watch Friday nights and they look forward to them all week. And daddy's popcorn tops the night :)

February 20
We went to Reykjavik Saturday morning. It was cold and windy and when Lovisa Lin got dressed, she put on shorts, knee-high woolen socks and those summery shoes LOL At least she wore woolen socks - although the didn't quite reach up to the point where her pants ended, so there was a part of her lower thigh that was naked :)

February 21
Sunday was "wife-day" here in Iceland. We have "husband-day" around the 20 of January and "wife-day" around the 20 of February. They each mark the beginning of a new winter month according to the old Icelandic calendar system. These days are our equivalents of Valentines Day, and Sunday it was DH's turn to pamper me LOL So Saturday, we left the girls at mom's an he took me to a hotel and out to eat at a really good restaurant. It was a fantastic 24 hours - if only for the fact that this is the first night since March 1, 2004 that I have spent a night without either or both girls :) Anyways, he got us a really nice room on the top (executive) floor of the Hilton Hotel Reykjavik - and this is the view from our 9th floor queen size room :)

February 22I made Indian food yesterday, and although I loved it, both girls thought it was too spicy. Lovisa Lin tried her hardest to eat it with lots of rice and veggies, but even though I mashed the meat (without sauce) into the rice for Matthildur, she really didn't care for it at all. She tried, though, and since we have been giving them a hard time about eating the food they get and not appreciating the food they get, she told me how much she loved this food, grimacing through every bite LOL Poor kid. This is her, trying to put a positive spin on the food :)
