My son has been sick on and off for the past couple of months, and coupled with some very bad weather, lots of snow and ice, outdoors time has been very limited. At the end of January the snow had gone and he was feeling good - so we went out for a walk. He had SO much fun, couldn't wipe the smile off his face the entire time :)

Waaaaay back when I was 13 and it was time for my confirmation, I asked my family to give me a typewriter for my confirmation present.

Now, however, 30 years later and I'm fast approaching my 43 birthday, my needs and wants have changed - I'm hoping and wishing for an iPad... :)

Road Trip

The first day of our summer vacation in July 2010. We were on our way to a summer cottage on the other side of the country - and, since it was a long drive, had hoped to be able to stop a lot. However, the first half of the road trip, we drove through wind and heavy ash fall from the recent volcanic outburst, and for the second half we drove through wind and heavy rain LOL
At least the ocean was gorgeous with all the wind - but only I and our daring au pair (in the photo) risked going out of the car to play a little on the beach and take photos :)

This is an old church, out in the countryside, close to where I live. We were there on a beautiful fall afternoon in 2010, and I took this photo when the sun was about to set and the moon had already risen. I love this photo :)

No Electricity...

Tuesday we had no electricity from 8:30 am until 6 pm and again from 10 pm until 2 am. Since we only have 4-5 hours of daylight this time of year - and we also had a raging storm outside, being cooped up inside with 3 energetic kids was quite an adventure LOL One thing I loved, was that my kids really didn' miss any of their usual electrical appliances and were really happy with reading, playing card games or just talking. Most of the time :)

We have so much snow these days, and lucky for the birds, our neighbours have been feeding them well. A photo of my best friend, taken in the North Dakota Badlands when we took a little roadtrip in May 1991 while we were still in college. We drove from Fargo ND to Theodore Roosevelt National Park - and it was so much fun. Driving through North Dakota was the first time in my life I had seen so much flat land LOL It was beautiful, but coming from mountainous Iceland, I just hadn't experienced before, standing on the road and not seeing even a hill (or a bump in the road LOL) in any direction :)

Paper Dolls

My girls and I enjoyed two nights of cutting out these fabulous paper dolls, created by Berna Datema at Scrapbook Graphics. They are called Ma'am's Dolls Cutouts and the pack comes with 4 dolls and sheets and sheets of fun and funky clothes, shoes, jewellery - everything!

For the layout, I used Berna's Poiesis - Economy Pack and Jenny Davey's Strip That Paper 2.0 ~ everything available at Scrapbook Graphics ~

We lit the first candle of the Christmas wreath on Monday, since Sunday was so busy that we plain forgot!! Lighting it on Monday didn't matter, though, it was just as festive and special :)

Christmas Lads

We have 13 rather mischievous Christmas Lads in Iceland - each one comes down from their home in the mountains with a little treat for the kids. First one comes on December 12 and the last one on December 24.

First Sunday of Advent and the lights on the Christmas trees were lit in our town today. We went - of course - and took my younger daughter's friend with. They met the first Santas of the season and were really excited :)

...of the Gingerbread House LOL My daughters felt the Gingerbread house had beed left in peace for too long when New Years Day rolled around, so they took it upon themselves to make it "eatable" - or so they said :)
